Athlete Spotlight – The UNC Basketball Med Ball 400 Workout

Men’s Health featured a great article describing a workout that uses only a medicine ball. The workout is designed by UNC strength and conditioning coach Jonas Sahratian and is used by the college’s basketball team as part of their conditioning program. Considering how dominant their basketball team is, and the way Tyler Hansbrough (pictured) plays the game, this workout is definitely worth checking out.

Sahratian suggests doing this routine either at the end of a regular workout or as a standalone set of exercises 3 days a week. Start with 20 reps of each of the 10 exercises and then work your way up to 40 reps. The work is to be done in a circuit doing 1 set of each movement in succession and without resting. All you need is a 6, 8 or 10 pound medicine ball.
